Bruce and I are traveling to Italy (Rome, Lucca and Venice). Traveling with Bruce's Dad and son Alan over Spring Break.   We continue to Greece and Croatia on a Cruise that begins and ends in Venice for a total of 17 days of travel and fun together. 
Itinerary 
April 1 -Fly to Rome
April 2 and 3 in Rome. Hotel Camilia has free Wifi.  Via Groto 36 Rome Vatican Tour
April 4 and 5 to Lucca by train.  Hotel Ilaria & Residenza Via del Fosso 26  has free Wifi
April 6 and 7 Venice.  Hotel Antiche Figure Santa Croce 687 has free Wifi
We think the cruise does not have Wifi so we will take notes and blog again on the 15th
April 8 Head on Cruise
April 9 Bari Italy  April 10 Katakolon Greece,  April 11 Mikonos Greece, April 12 Piraeus Greece,
April 13 Sarande Albania,  April 14 Dubrovnik Croasia ,
April 15 Venice  Annia Park Hotel Venice Airport Via Triestina 161 as has free Wifi
April 16 we fly home through Rome!! Easter Sunday home by 8pm :)

Full day in Rome April 3,2017

St Peter's Square     We all woke up early and headed to breakfast downstairs.  Coffee is espresso with warm milk according to our waiter's Español. Continental breakfast with bread, meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, pastries and fruit.     We got ready for our 10am Vatican tour by heading out at 9am for the Metro at Repubblica Station. Wow, it was a squeeze to get in, but luckily a lot of passengers got off at the next two stations. So glad to have paid for a tour because of huge crowds.   We enjoyed a full three hour tour of the Vatican museum, Rafael rooms, and the Sistine Chapel.  A marvelous sight to see in a room full of people.     Next stop was Saint Peters Basilica and the priceless sight of the Pietà. Dad was in awe at the detail that Michelangelo was able to carve into the marble.  We all marveled at the sights, including the dome by Michelangelo and the Bronze alter canopy by Bernini.      W...

Travel to Lucca, Italy

    Today is the day we travel to Lucca. After breakfast, we packed up and walked to the main train station in Rome. A short 10 minute walk with luggage was easy. We walked past people heading to work, sleeping bags with the homeless and many heading for the station like us.        For 40 minutes we waited and watched  the departure board, waiting for our terminal number.  Dad  had to use the restroom and asked a police officer ( in very broken Italian) where one was. Bruce headed with him for a wild goose chase, and never were able to find the bathroom. Our train came in with only a 10 minute window to board. Luckily it was the track right in front of the gate we had been waiting at.   The high speed train to Florence         We really enjoyed the high speed train.
